I was looking on the Net and found some neat artist journals links. Lots here to inspire journals.

This is a veeeeery kewl project:
The1000JournalProject
http://1000journals.com/home.html

Beautiful work:
Susan Cohen
http://www.art-e-zine.co.uk/susancohen.html

Collage and writing:
Art/Journals by Aisling D'Art
http://www.aisling.net/gallery/journals/journals.htm

Some how to info on beginning an artists journal:
Visual Journals and Paper Arts
http://members.tripod.com/~cradleofbones/paper/

These next two are blogs (weblogs) that contain artist journals:
just genie
http://www.justgenie.com/

Art Girl
http://art.niccimae.com/

Author of "Spilling Open" --a teen artist journal, fascinating
Sabrina Ward Harrison

Question for everyone--Is there anyone interested in sharing artists journals? I would set up a project (if thats OK with the moderators) built around artists journals if theres enough interest --kind of a "show us pages from your artist journal" project.

Funny you should ask...I am seriously interested!

I have recently been turned onto art journals and I think it's an awesome idea!!! An art sandbox to play in where anything goes...besides I love to write as well. :D Currently I am peeking around and gearing toward a journal of my own. I've yet to decide whether I am going to put it online or not...right now the scales are tipping towards a big YES!

It doesn't look like there is much response on this idea as of yet, I guess we'll see. Regardless, I would love to hook up with a couple/few others who are into art journaling. Are there any other want-to-be or art journalists out there? Come out, come out where ever you are!

Thanks Pat for the links. Greatly appreciated!

Your project sounds interesting, Pat...I've just returned home from a rather tiring trip but I'm going to think on it :)

Hi Liveandlearn and Jersey! Yep, I'm not sure that there is enough interest to do it as a project. If it were a project tho then some people who frequent other forums would see it and maybe ...? I guess I could just submit it and we can see what happens. Hopefully get that done within the next couple days.

Jersey, I tried the link you gave but it comes up page not found. Could you doublecheck? I'd really love to see the site. I don't have that one. Hope your trip was good.

Good Morning Pat ....I may have left off some of the addy (?)....this should work.

I guess I always think of my journal as terribly personal...it includes images and written thoughts so I hesitate to post it publicly. There are folks who swap pages but I suspect they may be less personal pieces....

I'm doing an art swap (and of course I'm behind) right now but maybe those of us that are interested in this project could brainstorm some?

My trip was to Mayo Clinic for my mom who is very ill...so I'm attempting to refocus on the positive today :-)

Hi Catherine!

First, you and your Mom are in my thoughts. Its a very hard thing when a parent is ill. (((((Catherine)))))

The link worked great....WOW!!! Her journal is *fabulous.* I'm gonna go back to that site again and again. I really want to explore each one of these.

About the project...yes, sometimes its too personal to share. I was thinking that this could be very open to each person's interpretation of an artist journal. Some may write personal events with their artwork and want to share that. Others might only want to share art pages from their journals. Either one would be fine. Don't really want to make rules so that everyone who wants to participate feels free enough to do so. We wouldn't be swapping pages tho...just submitting scans.

Thank you for the link! Its a keeper:-)

Just an aside...every artist should have a sandbox. Period.

thought I'd take a risk today and upload an old journal page....photos taken while driving the highway and then manipulated on the computer to make a print....not sure I got the hang of the uploader...we'll see. <p> I used to have a very long daily commute, lol

Hi Catherine, That is terrific! Its so colorful. Good job!

I was thinking somemore on the artists journals project and think it would be better in the Mixed Media Forum than this one. What do you think?

Thanks Pat...the driver of the truck was a little perplexed:D

I do think the project you're proposing might be well received on the MM forum...there's already an altered tag thread and lots of collage etc. I'll look for it there.

Update-- I created a artist journals project and submitted it Sunday. It will probably take a few days to be approved, but look for it in the Mixed Media forum. I put it there cause I think there will be more interest there.
