This is Great! I especially like how you did the feathers and the face. I also like the colours you have used. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Hi BevL.. You have done an absolutely wonderful job. Whereabouts in Ontario are you? I live near a wee hamlet called Damascus in Central Ontario north of Guelph. Both I and my husband love birds and he dreams of owning a Blue and Gold macaw. I did a full-sized picture of one in stained glass which he loved.
Thanks for your comments. This guy was fun to do! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/wink.gif
That's really great that you and your husband have a macaw in your future!. If you are game for having your life run by a feathered two year old, go for it! http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/wink.gifI live with quite a few parrots, but we don't have the priviledge of living with any macaws. I don't know how familiar you are with birds, but I can tell you they are the most wonderful companions you can imagine!
I just completed a painting of a blue and gold, as well. I am hoping to do a scarlet soon, and then the mini-macaws.
Being near Guelf, you are very close to a lot of breeders of parrots!
Are you familiar with the Canadian Parrot Symposium held in Toronto? A HUGE parrot event, with behaviourists, vets, and vendors coming from all over. You might want to check it out. It is sometime in November. I hope to attend next time. Oh! I am in the Ottawa area. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

No Bev, I am not familiar with the symposium but now that you have mentioned it I will most definitely keep an eye open for it. We have owned Cockatoos and bred Cockatiels and Canaries... an awful lot of C's there :) We had to stop with them when we moved where we are now as it is too cold in this house not to mention owning 5 cats LOL. My daughter is currently living in Vanier going to U of O for the next year or so. I should let you know when I am heading up there to visit her. I would love to see your painting of the Blue and Gold :)

Bev, my browser cannot find the server, www.silvioco.com (http://www.silvioco.com) - not sure why :( And yes birds are incredible and when we have a better climate for them we will definitely be getting into them again :)
So you ARE familiar with birds! Aren't they wonderful! Hopefully soon you will once again enjoy thier companionship.
Here is the link to the next Symposium.
Lots of great speakers are coming! We will be fortunate enough to hear Liz Wilson next month here in Ottawa.
This is how I got started painting parrots in the first place, btw. Had to paint a banner to welcome Layne Dicker a couple of years ago. Last year another for Phoebe Green Linden, and I am sure I'll be approached to do the one for Liz.
My blue and gold painting is posted just below. I have repainted the rope, makign it smaller and also have put some showing in behind him.
