This was my first "hidden animal" drawing, and though I got tired of drawing rocks it turned out pretty good. I would like to try more of these types of drawings in the future. The drawing was done in graphite pencil (#2) and I came back in with color pencil as an overlay. It is about 9"x9" in sixe.

The bird is a wandering tattler chick.

Nice pencil work - i love the way the rocks look so hard and when you find the chick he looks so soft really nice and look forward to seeing more like this

One of the fun things about this picture is that the chick is easier to see in the reference photos...which sit right next to the drawing. People will skim right past the drawing, catch a glance of the chick in the photo and then go back and look for the chick in the drawing. It is funny, little kids almost always see the chick before their parents!

Love it Cathy!
Can't help thinking, though...if you had placed the chick somewhere off centre, maybe in the lower left, it would have made a more dynamic composition. Right now, all roads lead to centre stage, where, predictably, the chick lies. Just a thought.
Nice piece. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif

Thanks for your comments! I think you are right...the composition would have been better if I had placed the chick off center. I'll think more about composition in the future "hidden animal" pieces.
