New person here, been lurking for quite awhile. Feel like I know you all. I love drawing horses and dogs! This is an 11x14 graphite from a photo. Now that I'm recently retired (all smile please) I can draw all day if I want. Comments please, self-taught, need to learn.

The portrait of the Arabian is beautiful.
I have always loved greys best in the equine world. Great job! Keep up the great work.

I think you have mastered it! Very nice and I love Arabs especially. That dapple gray area looks really nice.

Beautiful, very elegant.
I want to get closer! It has the look of almost being a monochromatic watercolor from here.

I like how you did the horsres textures. http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/smile.gif How did you get the horse and background so smooth?

Thank you all for your comments!

Animal - I really think my drawing was too enhanced with my camera. A lot of people thought it was a watercolor also. At my house it's plan old graphite drawing. But I recently got a 5B Derwent graphite pencil and I can really get smooth shadings with it. I've done entire drawings with it, just using pressure. The background, however, was interesting in that I used an HB, over and over and over, different directions--reason being there was some very interesting stuff going on out my window all day--involved sheriffs and a dead body http://www.wetcanvas.com/ubb/eek.gif ....
