This is a very pretty chimney and so tiny for all the detail.

I took the photo for this on a drizzly day while staying with friends in Southwold on the suffolk coast. They very patiently waited for me to photograph several chimneys that day. The elf was out looking the chimneys over too. Sometimes he's difficult to find.

This was another taken on that rainy day. It was on top of a gate house that I also used. (cheated used it twice but it was a neat chimney)

This was taken at St Mawes castle in cornwall. I took a bit of artistic licence and added the elf where a roof was!

This was from a pub roof in the town of st Mawes. I can't remember the name.

This house in the town of Winchcombe , Gloucestershire. We were just coming into town as the sun was going down. Loved the darkening sky at back and the sun on the front.

Oh sorry forgot to explain Kat's chimney. I thought I should have one to to represent the US so when I went to Chicago to visit my grandkids my SIL who is a cop said he knew of a good chimney and took me to this one. I really didn't do it justice but it was fun to do. It is a chimney of a first commission by Frank Lloyd Wright on a house in oak Park IL. I got into trouble from my daughter because I had to get out in the street to get it all in. The grandchilren wanted to know how come Granny could stand in the middle of the street!

I just love everything about this little chimney. The stonework is beautiful and the greenery is just perfect. Love the touch of the little swallows. This would make a great big painting.

This one has arrived for Just Chaos. This odd chimney was out in the middle of a farmer's field. We were driving around on a particularly dreary day chimney hunting and this one was just out there in the field. I thought it very unusual and really liked the contrast of the white steam/smoke against the stormy sky.

I think it had something to do with the farming operation. It sat in the middle of a wheat field which had just been cut, so I thought it must have had some purpose to the farm itself. Not much in the way of oil or gas in our area. Mostly farming where this was taken. I must look into it because it was very interesting.

Wow, there are some gorgeous Chimneys to admire here. I just want to let you all know that I haven't forgotten you. My mother has been, and is, very sick, and I am spending a lot of time at the Nursing Home with her each day, and I'm afraid I've had very little time left for everything that needs doing before Christmas. However, I've never let anyone down yet, and I certainly don't intend to now. Your Chimneys will be flying around the world as quickly as I can get them done. Have my reference pics ready.

This is the Old Galt Post Office in Cambridge Ontario, very near my home. It is a grand old building and I just love its roofline and lovely big chimney stack. It is postcard size with watercolour pencil, watercolour and pigma micron pens.

ScattyKat just let me know that the Guelph Armouries Chimney has arrived safely. This one is watercolour and pigma micron pens. This building is right outside the back door of my part time job in Guelph. It is a lovely old building and very castle like with ramparts and turrets and lovely brickwork.

This house is on Park St in Cambridge Ontario. It had a most unusual roofline with lots of additions to an old house but was very unique. Watercolour and pigma micron on postcard.

this chimney comes from the same chateau as the one with the geese flying over. It's not as grand as that one, but bears the same sort of decoration on the stona work. I can remember wondering where the jet flying over was headed, maybe chasing after the geese...:D

Perhaps not as grand but every bit as beautiful. I love my lovely chateau chimney. The little gable in front of it really adds to the lovely roofline. Just gorgeous.

Val just had this one arrive at her house. It was taken in Winchcombe in the Cotswolds. I love the vines they have there that turn bright red in the Autumn so I had to paint this one even though the chimney itself is not so pretty


I am a little concerned that I haven't heard from Missswiss ( Mary) and Justchaos (Jean) two from the US and now I have heard from Australia. I posted them all at the same time on the 12th so they should have shown up several days ago. Did I miss a pm or post that said thay arrived. Has this happened in the past? Jen

I tried to use the description box and it still does not work. Sad when there are very interesting historic details about these chimneys,
I cannot say where Just Chaos and Missswiss are but I found that my cards to the States from Spain take longer than anywhere else. I posted all my chimneys on two Fridays ago and they seem to just be arriving in the U.S. I am sure you will hear from the girls soon, sometimes it depends on personal circumstances or just darn busy. I know that Kitty is away on an extended holiday and I was away for nearly two months and came home to a huge pile of cards in my mail box. There are one or two people who never seem to reply but none of the above. Eileen

In uk there is quite a thing for using old ornate chimney pots as planters. This one I spotted in a garden near my dd's place. It looked a bit bizarre wthh the gangly sunflower leaning out of it, but I liked it. That sweet lil black cat teetered all the way around the garden wall to come see me, so I just had to include her in the pic....

this cluster of french chimneys are in our little village, when the sun shines on all those rustic red tiles its a picture. There are always a crowd of starlings here by the church, and they appreciate the handy perches the telly ariels make. The cowl on that front chimney may look a little odd, that's because the chappie who put it up there had to do it in a hurry, and couldn't find anything to buy that was suitable, so he got inventive...it's actually an upside down terracotta flower pot and it's saucer. It works perfectly...:thumbsup:

It was evening by the time we got back from our trip to Albury to photograph chimneys there. At the local "pub" in Yateley where we were staying, we stopped as all the birds had come in to roost for the night. Much chattering and preening going on. I only painted half the birds!

i would love to stay warm and cosy but my dad has got all all digging out the lane. Its half a mile to the road and i hope he doesn't intend us going all that way!! I want to curl up by the fire and draw I have a commission to do and lots more chimneys and things that don't walk to do. I also had some work i wanted to get done this weekend as had a couple of snow days this week

I can't not to detail... I tried and it ended up detailed so I have decided to stick with it and do it well. :D

this is just fabulous :thumbsup: , so much work in all that detail, and so small, I am in awe. I'm a bit of a steam engine addict, and one of the saddo's that get emotional and reduced to tears when observing these beasties in action, plus I've actually been lucky enuf to co-drive a traction engine in my youth, I did the steering, you sort a gotta turn the steering wheel well before you want the wheels turn, these beautiful old ladies take their time responding, but are really something else, love these wondrous 'living' machines :heart: . So ya see Jenny, couldn't have been more apt, thank you muchly, I absolutely love it. :clap:

this little church chimney with its chattering jacks I spotted when I was visiting my daughter in Cumbria earlier this year. It is such a quaint church with its slate roofs, red sandstone walls and pretty bell tower, I couldn't resist.:D ...

this is my last chimney, it's another cumbrian chimney, on a falling down cottage just up the road from where my daughter lives. I really love this red sandstone, and mice, some mini ferns and other oppertunist plants have made themselves at home on this sweet little ruin...

gorgeous pattern on this chimney. I believe chimney pots used to be a statement of wealth, the more glam the chimneys the better off the owners. With so many stunning pots exchanged in this project , I recon we've made one another very wealthy :D

I have just received a card from Valchina612 in Australia. I arrived looking like it had come all the way in water. The envelope, though now dry, was wrinkled and some running of ink warned me that all was not well. I opened the envelope to find the card was soaking wet. I took it out of its glassine envelope so it could dry. Fortunately it seems to be just fine. It was really strange that the floods in Australia affected our trading. So my lovely card, now dry, is in my collection, a reminder of the floods that is breaking so many hearts in Australia.

I wanted to let every one know I have not forgotten about this project. I know i still have a few chinmneys to do .... I will get there eventually life seems to be taking over atm. I am very busy at work, trying to get assignmnets for my diploma done, moving house and to top it all over I'm really not that well either but to those of you i owe cards to i will get them done at some point when i can
