I used crosshatching and texturizing. I also played around with the levels and cropped the eye from the original photo so that it would not be crosshatched and layered it on top.

I know...not very complex, but I'm just learning :)

It's wonderful! It looks like this nice textured paper I have that I like to print on. Very artistic-not at all simple! A fellow once told me an artist often needs two people to help him/her create-one to push his elbow to get him started and one to hit him in the head to stop before he overworks it! Well-done!

Cathy...I love the look you achieved here. Which software did you use?

And you know...cropping the eye the way you did, makes it seem to shine almost becoming the focal point of the image.

GOOD THINKING, KIDDO!!!

 ~ You DID GOOD! ~

Can't wait to see what you come up with next!

Julie this is done in PS 5.0. I also have PS elements, but am not as familiar with it, so most of my fun is done in PS 5 :)

Thanks for your comments!

Crias, very nice image and texture. Is this your pooch? What a majestic pose and very nice background. This should be hanging on somebodys wall.

go on, tell me about this crosshatching thingie... don't believe I've ever seen it before. I very much like how you used it selectivally, yet made it appear natural. Very good, Cathy!

Geck,

In PS 5 crosshatch filter is under filter>Brush Strokes>Crosshatch I don't know if it exists in the newer PS softwear?

I like the effect it gives images...artsy but not totally distorted :)
