Is this india ink? He came out wonderfully and I do understand the question. So you used resist/frisket on paper to achieve your owl. Great job!!

Oh frisket!..I was thinking an acid resist....going back to my etching days I guess.

I painted all the white areas (border excluded) with white gouache..when dry I painted over the whole thing with india ink (in the oval shape)..when that was completly dry I washed the paper thoroughly to remove all the gouache (and the ink that was on top of the gouache)..leaving only the ink..
thus the question..what is the resulting image called??..is there a name for it??..sorry the image was so large, someone might re-size it for me..

Oh, Gouache?? I never even heard of someone trying it this way! Boy, ya' learn something new everyday.
Let me ask you, did the gouache completely remove itself after you washed it?? Aren't you worried about the water getting underneath the ink and lifting it?? I am assuming you are using waterproof ink, but I would worry about the absorption of the paper.
I'll admit, you probably saved a good brush, that frisket sure does have a way of ruining one!
Really cool! Thanks for sharing!!
