Quoting a dead poet

I am in the process of designing a series of greeting cards using my own original art work. I would also like to add a poetic quote on the inside page (namely Robert Service) Is this legal? Where would one check for specific copywrite information pertaining to individual poets?

Copyright extends to 75 years after the artist/author's death. I don't know this particular poet, but if he died less than 75 years ago you would still need to consult his estate regarding licensing or royalites.

Not sure exactly how this would apply to a greetings card, but it's worth checking.
