I was wanting to add cz's to the center of my flowers and I didn't know if they can be cased over or if they would just melt? I know the cz thing was already questioned but I didn't see where it was asked if they could be cased or not. Thanks!:D

I have encased my CZ's when I have used them and have had no problems. They are more brilliant I find though when I do not encase them. I superheat the spot I want to put them in and then push them in a bit with my tweezers then heat the spot again and the glass sort of encased the edge of the CZ so it is nice a snug in the glass. Below is one of my flower beads with the cz not encased.

That is a stunning bead! Thanks for explaining a bit how to use the CZ's. I just got some to play with and now I have some idea of what to do with them!

I bought mine at Rio Grande, and for the life of me, I cannot find my catalog and I cannot remember how much I paid for them. Sorry about that! You want to make sure you dont use cz'z that are too large, they can cause crackign around the edge where the cz is placed and also crack the bead. This is just an observation of my own beads and what has happened to me in the past. Now, I do not work with them any larger than 2mm now and I have had no problems since.

Yes, you can encase somewhat over CZ. I have done dots of clear over it with no problems, but never personally done a heavy encasement with it.
Remember that CZ isn't really compatible with glass, but as long as you stay under about 2.5 mm in size you should have success. Just make sure you have the "cast in place" type that can withstand the heat, and have some fun!

I have added cz into marbles. How do you keep from trapping a tiny bubble around the cz?

Hi Mike,
There are a couple of things that work for me,:
1) When applying the glass, instead of applying it head on, sort of swipe across. My theory being, pushing out the air as the glass is being applied.
2) Make sure the glass you are applying is as hot and juicy as you can control and also apply heat to the spot the cz is in right before you apply. Kind of like, when I make a bicone bead and I make the tube part first, if you are heating the rod up as you are applying the glass, it stops air bubbles from being trapped. Both the surface and the glass being applied are very hot.
Hope this helps
