View Full Version : A Third and Best in Show

Just to let you know Emma Rescued took 3rd in pastels at the local County Fair...My turkey vulture took a Best in Show....I went to see the Emma piece and right a way I could see I didn't get the hair right, can't wait for the show to end so I can fix it

But there was good news....Emma herself went to see the show and recognized herself! so I guess I got some stuff right, and she felt herself to be quite a celebrity ;)

Also got a first place in oils in the animal division

pics have disappeared.( just as well with the Emma:D ) so here is the Best,

Congratulations, Colleen! That's fantastic on both of them. Repost the paintings to this thread so people who haven't seen them can find out what a winner looks like?

you guys got posted before I got it up so here it is...

the hair looks too much like a helmet...will have to do some value changes, and reshape the back. detail shows the place I fixed with color fix primer...after I roughed up the rest of the piece it blended in pretty well...a forced way to looseness...

Karen, Nancy, Jen, Peggy, Don......Thank you so much

Elizabeth, James and Ruthie, well you know what I went through for my art now...

Donna appreciate that

Don thank you for that section you did on Portraits a while ago, it certainly got me started, tho sometimes I wish I hadn't:lol:

Paula and Dave, I think this is my favorite work of the year so far, so glad you like it, I even think it's OK, not something I say often

Ed....you are way more prescient than you can know....wait til you see my new work....will post soon in the Studio...

Tomorrow I take the other Emma( the second one) and Turkey Vulture( the first one I did) to Auburn for the Pastel Society of the West Coast Show, where amazingly I got both works juried in. Its a long drive to deliver them but to meet some other pastel artists will be a first for me...except online, I don't know any
