Mermaid

I did this drawing several years ago and only came across it recently when digging through my old drawings. I like some features of this and hate others(like the ship in the background).

Thanks Teanne. I keep thinking maybe I should try redrawing this one with all my new and improved skills, but I haven't sat down to do it yet.

What an incredible amount of work on her tail.
It would be interesting to redraw it and compare the two.

Oh, I really like this. Sea turtles AND mermaids,two of my favorite things! Very nice. Isn't it interesting to look back on old work and see how much we learn?

Thanks Leaflin. If I remember correctly I was sitting around where I worked at the time and had a couple of hours free to work on it.

You are so right. When I look at only my new stuff I dispair that I am learning anything at all. But when I compare my new stuff to my old, and even older, stuff I can see improvement.

ROFLMAO The one in the upper left is a jelly fish. The ship is that odd looking thing sitting on the seabed in the middle, lower right.

the ship is the thing that's having a much worse day than the jellyfish...or the turtle...or the mermaid. :D


i think this is a neat piece....do you think you'd like to redo it at your new skill level (and perhaps without the ship, tho i like it)?

LOL, yes the boat is definitely having a bad day.
I'm still not sure about redoing it. I'm one of those weird peole who don't draw the same subject over and over again(cause I get worse with each effort) and I don't eat leftovers either. I know it's weird. Maybe I'll draw another mermaid but I doubt it will be even close to the same scene.

Roll On The Floor Laughing My As- Off. It isn't meant as offense it was just funny that you said the ship looked like a jelly fish because I had been thinking the jellyfish looked like a UFO.
