View Full Version : Girault skin tone set

I am deciding on some new pastels. Luckily hubby likes it when I am painting, (he says I am in a good mood when I paint) and since I do have depression due to some serious health issues, he is generous with money for my supplies. I am pretty sure I want giraults. I really love them. I had thought about Mount Vision portrait set, but I am afraid they are too large for me. the texture of them seems quite similar to me. I have a few giraults and I want to be sure I am not ordering the same colors that I already have (they are pretty pricey to double up on ). I found the charts for the 25, and 50 portrait sets, but I have not been able to find the charts or number list for the skin tone set. I have been really thinking about getting that set, but maybe I will go with one of the other sets, or order open stock. Does anyone have a list of what is in the skin tone set? If I could just win the lottery ...I would buy a full set of both Giraults and Mount Visions for sure. Dreams!!!!! I was telling hubby that one day and he said "well, you could buy the set of giraults, how much are they" I laughed and told him and he was pretty surprised. He still said I could buy them, but I really think that is asking a little too much. Maybe some day I will be able to paint well enough to sell some paintings to buy them.

I LOVE my Giraults. They comprise about 80% of my pastels. My stuff tends to be detailed and the Giraults are perfect for that. The sticks are small, but they're quite dense...I have a set of neutrals that I've been using for almost a year. I don't do portraiture, but their neutrals are so outstanding I don't doubt they have excellent pastels for skin tone!
Other great Girault sets are the Claude Textier #1 and #2. One is "cooler" than the other, and have the most beautiful subtle colors as well as some wonderfully clear brights. The set of 50 darks is also fabulous!
