View Full Version : South Fork Snoqualmie River
Here is this morning's plein air effort, done at a location about 15 miles from my house. This is 9 x 12" on Wallis paper, using Unisons, Great American and a couple Rembrandts. This one was done in a bit over two hours.
C&C very welcome.

Really nice job John! I love how you do water. The colors are just beautiful.
Thanks, Paula! Yes, I was pleased overall with how this one turned out.

Very nice, especially for plein air! One thing that I would consider would be to add some touches of darker value where the small foreground rocks touch the water, similar to the darker touches at the shore. Just a thought!
Thanks, Don! Yes, I will do that. On location the dark blue-green looked like a sufficiently dark value, but it's not.

love the modeling on the rocks and their reflections in the moving water.

You are getting a lot of mileage out of this river, John. Nice work on this one!
Thanks Donna! I don't think I've even scratched the surface for subject matter with the river...I'm looking forward to painting it under a variety of conditions, times and seasons.
