This started out as a test to see how pastels would take (or not!) to ordinary A3 paper. I'd say that from now on I'll be sticking to ordinary paper for my pastels rather than the horribly textured/embossed pastel papers! :lol:

(Will still use my beloved velour paper though for animal portraits)

I used a mixture of both hard and soft pastels as well as some pastel pencils.

Really good portrait Ronnie...I'm particularly impressed with his hairline...on the top of his head - so realistic. :thumbsup:

texture, color, proportion....all working together in a nice portrait.....what is A3 paper?

back of the head looks very ' alien ' (?!?)
crisp - yellow gives a feel of the macabre
