I like the effect except for the sky. If the sky had a little more color there would be more of a sense of realism.

the light dark interplay
if I let my imagination go
the shapes at the bottom are a cheering crowd

Thanks for your comments. I think I'll follow your advice and add more colour to the sky. should I add reds, yellows or pinks to the sky to give it the best effect?

as regards to the shadows in the foreground, those are cactus plants and weeds present in the Maltese garigue, but hey we all interpret the world the way we want to:)

I also like the effect, but if it were mine, I'd also lighten the yellow in the water... it looks too heavy to me...

I added some colour to the painting and softened the yellow of the reflection using Paint Shop, should I proceed and update the actual painting in the same way, what do you think?

try adding some dark tones to the dark body masses .. ie. purples blues and greens .. but very very dark so your eye will suddenly start making shapes etc .. try it in PSP first.

To make it more surreal looking, how about making it look more like a sunnyside up egg? :)

The adjustments you made are good, tho maybe the landscape on the right should be reflected in the water a bit more.

This is the first thing I saw as well...A red sun would have red rays reflected on the water as well as transitions to lighter values of yellow/orange.

I want the foreground to have a little more details of highlights to pull it forward.

what do you think?I added some reflection on the right, red in the sea and some colour in the foreground.

I like the "final" product best. It it is much improved. Nicely done.

Thanks Judy, me too, all it takes now is getting down and doing the amendments (or better still starting afresh correcting the faults of the first one)

I like all the changes, especially in the water. But just want to point out that the sea isn't level. It's higher on the left.
