Another in my "browse through wife's science books for inspiration" monotype series. This one was done with watercolors painted onto plexiglass (I covered it with gum arabic first to help the paint adhere). This does not really look anything like a cell but hopefully gives the sense of a microscopic form...

This is interesting to me because at one time, I considered applying to be a medical illustrator ...

LOL Jo, I also thought of going into medical illustration for a short time.

I like this piece. I have never used gum arabic on my plexi, that is a good idea. I usually lightly sand my plexi to get the paint to adhere.

Charissa - I still sand the plate but the gum arabic coating helps pull more of the paint off when you go to print...which is nice, unless you like pulling a second ghost image! :)
