Here is an acrylic painting I recently completed about a week and a half ago, I wasn't sure if I should put it here or in the acrylic forum, but here it is :) Some of the richness of colors was taken out due to the scan, it is 22x16, acrylic on canvas. Any critique or suggestions are always welcome!

Acrylics?! No way, the Fantasy Forum gets first dibs at women in armor, it's an unwritten rule I just made up... Great painting... I love the come hither hair...

Oh. Very nice. :D
A lot of times people will post an image in a couple of forums, like the subject forum and the medium forum that the piece is relevant to. It's okay to post in multiple forums. People just usually try to limit it to a couple of forums for a piece.
I agree with Bobby though. Women in armor definitely need to be in the fantasy forum first! :D
Girl...great. Armor...great. Colors...fantastic. I love the gold and rich blue. The only thing I'm not sure on is the blue fan portion that comes into her back. I don't know if it's really helping the composition and my eye gets hung up on it. Then, I start wondering what it is and why it's there.

Oh I thought that was some sort of elaborate throne she was on... hmmm? keep em guessing... she's half peacock, no she's in front of a carnival...

I thought at first that she was standing in front of a port of a starship, looking into space... then I saw the sky, and thought maybe you were going for something surreal? In any case, great work! Post more! :)

This is GREAT! I love the way you rendered the girl, and I thought she was looking over her shoulder entering a port-hole myself!! LOl, In any case she definitely belongs here!!
Beautiful pic;)

Love it. The girl is beautiful ( what a warrior!). Sky is also great. I was scratching my head over the thing she appears to be standing in also. Looks like stars showing thru the blue like she was coming out of a portal from one place to another with the sky

Well, if you can paint the area out, I'd suggest covering it with shadow and more of that fabulous hair. I did a photoshop alteration to give you an idea of how it might look if you did.

I think I should explain what the idea was supposed to be :) Originally, the blues inside those cells that sort-of-almost-resemble butterfly wings, were supposed to be the reflection of the sky behind her, where its still night time, hence the little speckled 'stars,' and the sunrise in front of her. Somewhere along the way I got tired of trying to get all of this in the painting, and sort of ditched it, and now its just a little design with a pretty face on it... oh well, next time I will try not to channel such a complex idea through my intermediate artistic grasp, lol. Hope you guys enjoyed anyhow

I had heard there was a special work posted by you, and I just found it! Superb work, James. I don't walk the halls of Fantasy/Sci-Fi often, but glad I did.

Love it, love it, love it. Definitely a fantasy forum piece. I would make the blue at her back either really dark blue or black. As it stands right now it seems to cut off a portion of her backside so maybe extend that a Tiny bit.
