Micro abstraction.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
Is the contrast enough? Do I need to add black to the shadows? Also, too predictable? Been done too much?

So nice to see you posting here again, and this is a lovely piece -- very rich and dimensional!

it seems to lack the sense of texture...

higher contrast would bump it from soft romantic to more art deco, so it depends on what you're after i guess ... would you really use black ?! or dark red/green?

i'm a titch bothered by the lighter streak beside the upper edge of the upper petal and the white sprinkle on the bottom right corner, and to be honest the top left squiggly stuff distracts, but other than that i find it quite sexy and appealing

really, really liking the addition of yellow orange

I don't think it's been done too much. I also don't think it's in a class with your other work. Just not enough going on and to my eyes, it doesn't suggest the delicacy of petals. If you want to darken the shadows, I'd suggest indigo rather than black.
