So this is my first shot at this. I would love to get C&C on this. I want to do more of these so I'd like to know how to improve them.

cool, nice mix of colors and shapes ... good theme of music going on ... i can find many instruments ... wouldn't mind seeing the far right piece with an extension of the black middle horizontal line included to the edge, kind of like a base cello would have and to break the white a teeny bit more ... like it much tho, i'd hang it

Thanks La, I hadn't seen the music theme until you said something. And I agree with you about the black horizontal line.

Bold and beautiful! The black really makes the other colours pop! ...like it!

Well done. I like it a lot. The only thing that I can say is it seems a little heavy on the bottom right where you have the solid blue. The upper left is kind of empty. But it may have a different feel live. Sometimes it is hard to tell in the reduced size.

I wish i could get my colours that bright and vibrant... i always try but they lack luster :(

Any tips welcome!

Keep up the good work :)

I like this tryptich and it could stand fine as is.

When I do tryptichs of this nature, I do what you have done and essentially paint one painting across three panels. Then I take each panel separately as a starting point and work them as individual paintings. I stare at it as its own composition and rework details, focal points, color balance, edges, etc. I turn it upside down. Perhaps do a value study by desaturating it in photoshop. Obliterate areas that don't work in the individual panel. Then I do that process to the other two panels and put them all together.

In some cases this has ruined the work as a tryptich but leads to one, two, or if you're lucky three individual works that stand alone and seem thematically related to each other in some vague (or in your case, explicit) way. Sometimes it makes the tryptich really sing as a cohesive unit and also as standalone compositions. I have yet to completely ruin all three panels. I have certainly ruined one or two along the way, but somehow the leftover panels have become some of my favorite works.

for me it works better as a dyptich with 1and2,the third makes a painting in itself..I enjoy this work however..

I am no art critic, I've had little experience, and just a few lessons in abstract art, but I absolutely love this! It has inspired me to try something myself and I very much appreciate Rob Lineberger comments.

Great colors and it inspires me to think hard and it energizes me. It looks great against the neutral tan grey wall.

Thanks for all the kind words. Rob you never fail me with your insight and knowledge, it is much appreciated.

Thank you Clem, and I agree.

Jo anna, Thanks so much. I'm not sure what I do to make my colors stand out to be honest. I do try to use decent quality paint and I try not to over mix them. But I'm not sure if thats the real reason that they are so bright. One thing I do think about when I'm painting is complimentary colors.

Minaret, I'm so glad that it inspires you and your right Rob writes the best comments :)

Very vibrant work. Seems that colour should wrap around the edges, but from the photo I can't tell if it does. I have been toying with the idea of a tryptich and yours is definitely an inspiration.

Stay inspired!
