I hope this is a useful comment for you. It is basically a different way of looking at what you have. As it stands we are nicely caught by the top of the wall that forms a path into the painting. It leads us right up to the rack of the windmill vanes...and we are caught like a fly in a large web and it is hard to move into the right hand side of the painting. It is divided off by the wall so that we have two distinct halves. How about putting the vanes on the other side of the tower. I believe those roofs were made to rotate so as to catch the wind from any direction. Then by warming your light and letting it flood in from the left we are able to flow with it into the right hand side of the painting. Is the difference apparent to you? It is always good to be aware of alternative modes of expression even if we do not choose to follow them. It can be instructive. A painting a day is a marvelous way to expand our abilities. I really like this image...makes me wish for a good book, a glass of wine and a comfy stool to sit in the sun under that mill and read!

I really enjoy your scene, colors and textures here. Maybe throwing some life into the upper right corner would also move the eye around more. It feels a bit incomplete, to me. Some ideas I hope will help, from this viewer:

Great colors and brushwork. My issue is the dark sky. The sky could perhaps be darker than the path if the path was catching a specular reflection but it could not be darker than the side of the mill since the sky is the light source.

Re: the day 2 painting...love the long shadows raking across the path.

Don't know how to put this, but I'll try. The fore ground brushstrokes on the path seem to be more vertical, while the ones further back are more horizontal. I think it would look really neat if the foreground brushstrokes were more horizontal..as it stands, it kind of looks like grass.

Just a thought, and it's a lovely painting, no matter what!

Tilen, both paintings you show us are great! I like your fresh brushwork and the colours are full of light. Especially the playing with light and the shadow in the second painting is great.

I hope you have been on this places and worked in the nature. All in all, wonderful work!

I have always liked to do yellow skies...so I am totally open to the lovely pink sky...which of course falls in line with your over all usage of color. Very nice tilen!

this is what it was meant to be: exciting, pleasing to the senses and the spirit. ( you could also have used a turquoise green for the water to great effect with the pink sky....)

This is dramatic and stunningly beautiful...the flowers are understood, but I keep seeing them as butterflies.

turquoise green: a base color of Naples Yellow, a touch of Thalo Green a touch of Thalo Blue: makes a 'dusky' hue. (former post)
