I love the feel of oil pastels and I'm experimenting with a variety of paper weights and textures.
What type of paper is most recommended?

MarinaM....I too have been experimenting lately with oil pastels. I'm not sure at this point what the recommended surface is for oil pastels..however, I've been using hot pressed watercolor paper.
I know that if you are using turp to blend with, you need to be careful about the paper that you are using. When I find more info, I'll post it here.

Yeah, I used watercolor block (140lb) but I found that the the texture was too rough - the result was far too grainy. I'll keep trying...

Marina...I'm using the hot pressed 140lb. block which has no texture at all....very smooth.
