16 x 16 studio wrap acrylic.
I thought if I put it here as a WIP it would force me to finish it!!!
It's a gift for a little girl that I am seeing in a few days in Seattle. She is of course a wanna be ballerina herself.
I have a ton of work to do on it so will post when there is a big enough improvement for comments and crits.
I know this is the seriously ugly stage but I am hoping that there is good enough potential for it to be 'stunning' when it's done!!! Aren't I the hopeful painter....
I plan on putting some glitter in the bg and on their tutus as well or will that cheapen it too much? Remember, the girl is just 5 years old...and would love the sparkle

A few more hours of fiddling around. Totally changed the colors (( ))

I need to work on a few things but overall I see the end of the painting in sight! And that's a good thing.

It's a night photo so will repost in the morning with better lighting.

Thanks for commenting Connie....always appreciate your comments!!:)

OHHH This is gonna be beautiful!!
I Love the softness of their tutu's already!
The dancers seem a little too orangey but its comimg along great, I like the simple features, gives it a great painterly look!
Your going great for just starting, she's gonna love it!

SHOOT! Just noticed the dancer at the back on the viewers right DID NOT get her legs painted white AND they look like chicken legs....grrrrrr! Will get on that tomorrow too.
Gotta love noticing this AFTER you post....

They are less orange but their skin needs some work.... like maybe laser therapy!!
I am feeling more and more pleased with it.
Any votes on to add some sparkle/glitter to the bg or tutu's?

Looks so much better!!
I think glitter would look great on this, maybe even some here and there on the white tutus, headdress and maybe a design on their bodice.. but leave the background alone!
she's gonna LOVE IT! I WOULD!

I think the eyes need some work....kinda friday the 13th looking or evil look going on with all the white specks and dark eyeliner...LOL
Thanks for telling me NO to the bg glitter, Kathie...
Off to paint now!!! LALALA-lala

This is looking beautiful. You have captured that sense of movement in it. You are so brave to do a piece like this one.

Not sure on the sparkles. Would they take the attention off the painting as a whole? I like the look of it as it is but it Just depends on what affect you yourself are looking for . Either way it will be a lovely painting.:)

I wouldn't add sparkle/glitter to the background or the tutus. Makes it a bit cheap. You could however add some coloured spatter to the background to spice it up.:)

Looking good so far. The dancer with the yellow hair behind the centre dancer has a nose that looks a little cartoonish (just from the slope of it) so maybe you could take the harsh slope off.

If you really want to sparkle it up why not use the tiniest amount of some interference or iridescent colour to the tutus as a highlight. It will be subtle but as the light in the room changes so will the "sparkle" effect.

Greast job Valri! I bet she loves it dearly! I have a 5 year old granddaugther and in her opinion the more glitter and sparkle things have the better.

I forced myself to use wee little brushes to finish it. I guess I should drag those itty bitty things out more often...couldn't resist putting some unrealistic color in there though. Maybe one day when I grow up I'll paint something using the real colors......maybe!

Just a bit closer view of their faces.

More detail of a face.

And yet another face......

And another.........

And more faces close up!

And the legs. Not entirely thrilled with how they turned out BUT I'm guessing the focus will be on the tutu's and the faces rather than the legs.

AND it is done! Finally....almost a year of letting it sit!
It's signed and on it's way to Anna in Seattle. I'm sure she'll LOVE it (being 6 years old and all)

Valri. Those colours are wonderful - they are all about style and what makes one recognise a painting by you. I am sure this is going to be a real hit with the little ballet-loving girl. There is joy in this one.

Thanks for all the kind comments!
I have signed it and now I'm still looking at it seeing things I wanna change BUT I'll stick to my LAW - once signed no more touch ups!!
I just have to package it and get it out of here or it'll drive me nutty (nuttier than I am!) LOL

if its not you it should never be done, as it will never reach its potential..

This is awesomely beautiful. glad you were true to yourself..
