View Full Version : Achieve Realistic Texture in Colored Pencil

Learn to use two completely different approaches to painting lifelike textures with colored pencil in Gary Greene's newest artistsnetwork.tv (http://www.artistsnetwork.tv) workshop, Painting Texture in Colored Pencil. Gary begins with the basics: pencil choices, sharpening and strokework. He then demonstrates two complete start-to-finish paintings--layering circular strokes on a smooth toothy paper to paint glass bottles; and underpainting and layering linear strokes on cold-pressed watercolor paper to paint a donkey. You’ll love the depth, detail and intensity you can achieve with these techniques.

In this preview he shows how to layer various colors on an underpainting to create a coarse fur texture.

I've been looking forward to this one for days. Unfortunately my access keeps wobbling and I've only been able to see about two minutes of it. I love Gary Greene's techniques and really enjoyed the floral one and previous one too.

Hi Robert,
So glad to hear that you are enjoying Gary Greene's instruction.

Hope your access comes through so you can see more than 2 minutes of the texture workshop, though. If you keep having trouble be sure to contact customer service: [email protected]

All best,
