Hi all

A friend of mine, who is an acrylic artist, always glazes her work when finished. She says acrylics catch dust easily, and glazing makes the work look more like oils. What are your thoughts on this?

There have been some other threads on this. Yes, you should coat the final painting with gloss medium as an isolation coat, two coats is even better. Then apply a solvent filnish varnish so that in the future a conservator can remove this layer (and all its grime) without damaging the underneath layers then apply a new coat of varnish. The varnish layer is harder and is also less likely to attract and imbed dust.

Thanks very much. I read the other posts and they were quite interesting. I will continue to consult local artists and see what they recommend.
