A week ago I wrote to the WetPaint forum inquiring about how to mix fleshtones and how to lay on the warms, cools, etc.... I am glad to say that after viewing two "Daniel Green" videos, "Color: The Daniel Greene Method" and "Oil Portrait: Erin" things became so much clearer. He makes it so easy. Fleshtones have been a huge challenge for me, and my major drawback. I am so glad I found these wonderful video (DVD) tutorials. I also watched another one of his (Pastel Portrait: Jim) which also simplified the process of doing a portrait in pastels. He is a great teacher. For those of you overwhelmed with the process of painting portraiture, I WOULD strongly recommend any of his videos....

Michelle, your title question doesn't seem to jive exactly with the content of your post however that's ok, I would say that for many, they are challenging to mix to ones satisfaction. Witness the number of threads which address this topic and the many responses and opinions. I would characterize flesh tones as very delicate and easily mixed too warm whatever. The range of pleasing tone is maybe narrower than say what it is for buildings, clothing, foliage, skies, etc.
Yes, I agree, the two DG videos I have seen were really nice.
