Why I would try and paint a cat I do not know. I can not paint a cat but keep trying. And to try it in WC to boot. 9 X 11. I did not have time to do another one so this is it for this week.

Hi Mary  Maybe you're just like me and can't help but love cats  Very nice job on the colors, they are very close to the reference.

At least it looks like a cat! It's really quite good. Mine end up like cows or something worse. Good job. Jen

Mary, it's not so bad. It's kind of cute actually with the quirky tilt to the nose.
I can't paint a cat either...mine always looks like bald mice. :D Love the calico colors on yours. ~!~Crowie

I think you did well painting a cat in W/colour. My pastel attempt was not nearly as good as this and ended up in the bin.
Your markings are great.

Mary, she is a cat! You captured her disgruntled unhappy-with-snow mood well! She came out great. I love the loose brushwork that gives her mottled back a fluffy, true to fur appearance.

The ears and forehead and eyes all say "cat" to me :) I know what you're feeling, though, since I have real trouble with ears on cats/dogs.

You did well Mary - cats are not easy!
Nice fur textures and the stance is good too.

I like the prissy expression on its face Mary, she has character.

Good outcome for tackling out of your comfort zone....of course you will try another cat again to build on the terrific experience with this one...I like your colours and how you applied them!

I always admire your willingness to try new things, Mary. This came out great, as you say: in watercolors to boot. The fur is wonderful, especially the light on the rear leg, and most importantly, you caught his stance and annoyed expression.

But I like how you did cat's furs, Mary.

i think i figured it out, Mary.... take your pointy finger and cover just the triangle tip of the cat's nose/mouth... everything else looks 'right' then.... try it! you'll see!! just widen that triangle/mouth section and it's cute pusspuss.... like the fur, like how you did the shadows...she's definitely standing there!! (to me, a hard part!)....... kor

Thanks everyone. You all still can not convince me it's a good cat, but I had to laugh when I got Kor's and did what she said. I really thought the one eye was way out of kilter and it is some, but she is right it is the nose. I think this cat was in a fight and got his nose really in trouble.
Looks like it was really pushed out of whack. Thanks Kor. At least I will have an idea what to look at the next time.
