When I first came on the boards here at WC pastels. A nice woman was praising this product for a pastel ground. Those of you who want to paint on BLACK or any other color (this could be black smooth Matboard or Illustration board) can apply this in two directions and get a terrific sanded surface. I use it a lot. In fact you can do an entire acrylic full-colored painting, coat it with this after drying and you can dust away. good Luck, Derek  Click HERE:

And you know that I love working on black - this might be my solution to working on a very large surface with a black ground -

I've used this before and really like it. It has a nice tooth to it.

I am looking for a clear pastel primer, is this something similar?

Winny---Yes it is, very similar to the clear Art Spectrum product, but much cheaper. I have a quart on the way from ASW for about the same as 8oz of Art Spectrum.

Oh thank you Dan, I am in need of pastel primer and also looking for something more economical. I will get some from ASW too, their postage seems reasonable as well.

Thank you Derek..and Dan, for telling me about Liquitex clear gesso...I found some at Hobby-Lobby, I think it is a 16 oz, for $14.49. Not having to pay postage was probably a good price, a lot cheaper then Artspectrum pastel primer and just about the same...I can hardly tell the difference if any. Thanks for your help.
