Hi! Is this an appropriate place to discuss pricing of decorative stuff? If so...

I painted 7 years ago and had an idea of what was what, but that was a while ago.

I went to a bunch of craft shows this spring and I still have trouble deciding what to charge for things because I didn't see anything similar to what I am doing. I've been painting boxes, slates, door crowns and "mini-murals". Everything handpainted, no stencils. Florals, gardens and landscapes. I'd appreciate some advice. Is this the right place? (Naturally my family thinks everything is worth a million bucks. I want to sell.) Thanks!

I think you need to post this in Art Business forum, Robin. Buying and selling questions are usually discussed there...

Okay. It's just that it seems like decorative arts comes under "other", if you know what I mean. Thanks, Jo.

i do shows all over the areas, and would ask you what show's you've walked around in your area? I personally know several people who sell what you're doing...

there is a good thread somewhere in the art business forum that discusses how I price work.

Arlene, I went to The Willows, Penn State Delco, Holy Cross and QVC (plus an in-house one). Thanks!

try the heritage shows in valley forge...the big one i forgot the name in edison NJ...sugarloaf has a show in the area...i'm sure i 'll think of more, but right now my mind is blank

also check out the web site http://www.sunshineartist.com for info on shows. What you're talking about is quite common...

Arlene mentioned the Sugarloaf shows, and I want to add there is one online. If this doesn't get you there, go to search and type in Sugarloaf

www.sugarloaf.com

You can sell online and it has to be a good market for I know at least one big name personally who markets all over this nation and is very successful. He was a neighbor craftsman in an art complex in PA.
