If I may :
A little more color variation in the sky ?
A few more pronounced dashes of color in the foreground ?
A difference of tones in the cows maybe ?

Since you said : critiques also, because otherwise I wouldn't have commented at all.

Just for the record, I knew too. :D

I like it very much. I also like it muted. There's a time and a place for muted.

I never would have guessed!
But I like it as much as your oils, I like the spareness...does that make sense. Its something I can't do very well.

Well….! I really like this one. The composition, the color palette, and the painterly style. I enjoy the simple calm sky. The simple black shapes of the cattle. Too much detail in the cattle would contradict the rest of the style of the painting. This is a really good piece!

I love the sense of space in this piece.

You can actually feel the miles and miles of miles and miles.

I like the mute tone of the sky and I can just visualize where the sun is in relation to the canvas. IMHO the sky and mountains are just about perfect.

The trees are a bit contrasty, and the foreground a bit strongly colored, but overall the effect is wonderful.

I fooled around in Photoshop lighening the tone of the trees and the forground and the effect was nice. Even though certain tones are a bit darker than they needed to be it is a very nice piece.

Thank you all for looking and commenting! *SMILE*

Jerry...ah ha

Spoof...yes...I wanted it to be a little sparse...but it does not show too well here...there is a lot of action going on in the foreground grasses.

LadyPearl....I agree about the cows. I did not want them to be detailed.

Meiwun....I can see that. Thank you for your comments!

A good painting with a limited palette. The trees being, part of the fore ground, the near fore ground should be darker to bring the trees in to relation with it. The sky may perhaps be made a little darker. That is ofcourse my opinion. Nevertheless, I find it attractive in its simplicity.

I love the starkness of this, the subtle distant ground, mountains and sky, then the contrasting trees and cows. Nice one, Fagan!
