My nemesis is painting rocks - unless I have an inordinatley long time to do it - so painting this made me push hard to do it in 2 hours.
Really tried to keep it loose - used a scruffy old tufty brush for most of it:lol:
Acrylics, 6x8" on a piece of mountboard (matboard).
Thanks for looking.:)
Hah! there's a rock in the middle foreground which would be better blasted away! Will remove that I think :D

Ooooooooooh! I can hear the water splashing!!! Lovely job on the rocks, water, and those foreground flowers!!

Your water is wonderful, and your rocks look like rocks (unlike mine, which usually look like potatoes or fuzzy cushions).

Nice work on the water.. the reflection of the sky turned out so nice. The flowers framed in the water.. very easy and relaxing to look at as a whole.

Lovely work Maureen, and I know what you mean about that front rock. I did blast it away when I did mine.. ~!~Crowie

Lovely work! Love the contrast of colors with the rhododendrons contrasted to the rocks and water!

Lovely one Maureen, I like the waterfalls and the pool too and you will make the rocks look better.
Your rocks right now are 100% better than mine when I laboured and spent hours on them :D

I really like this Maureen.I tried to comment before but came back invalid so hope this will go through. I changed servers to see if it would work. I was using foxfire which I prefer.
Back to your painting. I can almost hear the water falling over the rocks into the water below. Love it.

Maureen, I agree with Joan - that is the first thing i thought of was that you can almost hear the water falling into the pool! Excellent painting... :)

Bunny, Paula, Mary and Pat - thank you very much :)

YES...very good job on the water. My attempts at water esp water falls looks like it's frozen in time...ice like in fact! LOL
Yours has movement to it. And the flowers look great in the foreground. What is the 'blue' in the upper right of the painting?
03-22-2010, 09:03 PM
Maureen, this is fantastic! Don't blow up the foreground rock, it works. It's part of what makes the scene look so natural. You say you don't like rocks but these really worked great!

beautiful piece, the rocks are very well done, the water is flowing very well, and the flowers are a wonderful foreground for the scene.

Valri - that blue only showed up in the scan - it's gone now!
Robert - thank you - but I blasted the rock out of the water and the water flowed in
Bonnie and Heather - thank you ... I was trying to keep away from flowers this week!!! ;)
