Year Created: 2002
Medium: Oil
Surface: Board
Dimension: 20 x 16
Allow digital alterations?: Yes!

MY COMMENTS:
Palette knife only! I walked away from this after about an hour thinking it was gone. Came back today and spent 45 min playing to see what would happen.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
My biggest concern with this is the design and composition. It seems like I have stuff going every which way, kind of like a pinball machine; the ball bounces around and around, but does it stay within the format? My palette is limited, but does it work? As always I appreciate any and all comment and critique. Jim

I like it, Jim.

Although the branches give it a helter-skelter effect, the skillful use of the blues in the water help ground the eye so that it can settle occasionally before "pinballing" around again, which the wonderful contrast between branches and sky encourage the viewer to do.

The only thing I would change is the shadowed water at the bottom of the pool. It's too bright of a blue, and needs to be greyed down just a bit to more accurately represent the shadowed area.

Wasn't the moisture yesterday WONDERFUL?!?

I normally do not make any comments on oil as they are really above me. I find each one of them has its own attraction. I like the tone of this painting and the way the trees have been brushed in. But , may I point out that the blue in the fore ground takes the eyes off the rest of the painting.
