I am just getting into larger size paintings. Where can I purchase wholesale paint or paint in large quantities? What are other acrylic artists who work on a large scale doing? Thank you for any help you can provide. I just discovered this wonderful site. I told my husband if he ever wondered where I was, he could find me here.

You might like to check this website... http://www.novacolorpaint.com

I have not purchased anything from them.
Also, depending on what you want to paint..like murals on walls...you can use water based house paint for really large areas. Then use Basics Acrylics (the larger tubes) for details on the murals.

If you need a lot of a certain color, you can purchase a neutral base (in the house paints) and add your own acrylic colors to it much like they do for house paints. Do this in small batches and mix well. You can then store it in airtight plastic containers or old paint cans.

If you are working on giant canvases! Then I would use tinted gesso for a ground...you can tint it yourself by adding color. Then purchase the larger tubes of acrylic colors...check out www.cheapjoes.com (http://www.cheapjoes.com) or www.misterart.com (http://www.misterart.com) or www.dickblick.com (http://www.dickblick.com)
The larger tubes will go a long way! on canvas. If you are doing impasto, consider adding a medium to the paint also.

And don't forget to post some of your work!
