MY COMMENTS:
This was drawn in mechanical pencil entirely, and I am testing the waters with digital color. But I didn't want the color to be realistic. So I am trying to see where to go with it...

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
Can you suggest some color approaches, maybe with an example from the Net... or a set palette you think would be interesting? I am also gonna try one in semi- monochromatic (all blues or the like)

You may digitally color the blank versions I placed here...

I like the bold colors you are experimenting with.

Just a point of order, are you aware that the face is out of proportion? The upper part is far too small for the lower part, giving the impression of two faces joined together right below the nose, and the oversized lips really emphasize the dichotomy...

By the same token, there is no way that a bicep will be that enlarged for an arm stretched out and up, and the proportions between upper and lower arm are off. The forarm is about 30% too long and the upper arm is about 20% too short.

Many qualities go into a good work besides detailed lines. Proportion is one of the most important basics. Color is one of the least.

Good luck with your efforts!

Thanks madster... yeah the proportions were not intentional, as this was a doodle from my head without reference. I was mostly going for interesting cross hatching, and truthfully didn't want to draw the short arm... As for the face, I just like fuller lips.

Thanks for pointing out what you saw, will make a mental note, if I decide to redraw it. At this point I just wanted to emphasize "mood" through color, over accuracy... it's meant to be abstract.
