Hi all,

Does annyone of you have experiences whit the hard pastel from Faber Castell?
I think to use them to color the backgrounds whit some more control (detail) than soft pastels, but still easy to blend and cover bigger area's.

Thanks,
Timo

A pastel instructor I had only uses them as her hard pastels. She wouldn't even look when I showed her my new Derwents.

Of the hard pastels I've tried I like the Faber Castell best. You can do anything with them really, fill in large areas, do detail, whatever. I wouldn't really want to be without them.

I have a full set and have used them for years - they work well for backgrounds, and for details, and for blending colors. I wouldn't be without them and usually use them in every painting I do.

I dont use them but i use same manufacturer coloured pencils (both non watersoluble and watersoluble) and i must say colour range is really nice for example night green. maybe nicest greens what i can imagine. and if i rememver correctly there is only few rare hues what are not goodly lightfast.
and i must add derwents have huge lightfastness problem if i look colourchart correctly and i dont use even derwents. i currently dont use any and i tested years ago cretacolour i think hues are too dull my taste.
