MY COMMENTS:
I haven't been on WC for a while, but thought that I'd return and share some of my new work.

This is a new painting -- about 3 days old. It's a "remembered" self portrait -- what I looked like about 6 years ago.

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
Does it hold up? Is it too loose? Although the photograph doesn't capture all the detail, is there enough structure?

It's beautifully painted, zekeri! I really love the handling of the face and the lighting -- No, not too loose for me!

The structure could be improved, imho, in the arms, where the figure's proportions are off. His right shoulder needs to move back into his torso some, and the left elbow needs to be in better relation to the bend of the arm. Foreshortening gives most painters some difficulty -- take the pose yourself in front of a mirror and you'll see how it should go.

missed your stuff zek
I seem to think the dark outline might be new,
but it also seems natural in this piece.

Holds up beautifully! I love your style - just enough looseness and just enough structure. The light and shadow of late afternoon are especially well done.

it's very refreshing .. do find the left arm (elbow area) a little off kilter but it can still stand the test.

thanks for the input. I agree about the elbow / arm area. My new work is ccoming FAST and I'm starting to think about these works as drawings made with paint. I'm a little hesitant about re-entering them for fear for messing them up. Maybe after I've lived with them for a while I'll more feel like taking the risk!

works for me!

(I think, rather than re enter older work on their surfaces
use them as studies to start new work surfaces)

look forward to seeing more!

Gosh, Zek...then don't do it! It's close enough for jazz, that's for sure.

Nice brushwork. I think of "Castaway" when I look at this.
