View Full Version : "Her Majesty" (#3 of 52)

After a conversation with a friend I decided I would challenge myself to do 52 paintings in 52 weeks, I figured this could be doable if I have about 4 paintings going at a time  utter chaos!! Course I have no idea where i'm going to store 52 more paintings:(
This is just a small one but seemed to take just as long as a bigger painting.
6" x 6" acrylic on canvas covered with pastel ground. It made an interesting texture to paint on, almost spongy at times.
C & C always welcomed.

Ooooh, I like the texture, it looks nice. The pear looks like I could reach out and pick it up.

Really like your idea! The pear is beautiful! I can see that's a diffrent kind of texture. Did you like it?

Texture created by Pastel ground is clever and effective approach. Are the 52 all still life? Wish you success in your endeavor.

Thank you very much Patti!
Taddy - yes I liked the texture, although I was probably rougher with the brushes then I usually am. It was almost like you could scrub the paint into it and it stayed wet longer. I did pre-wet areas first when I wanted to blend two colors.
Venkat - I would say most of the paintings will be still lifes, but you never know I might just branch out of my comfort zone lol.

I have a jar of pastel ground and have not tried it yet, your painting surface is perfect for drybrushing such a beautiful texture. You did a very good job on the fabric. Keep painting you only have 49 left to do.
