View Full Version : Badami Caves
02-15-2010, 12:25 AM
In my previous thread I had submitted a view of Buddhist cave which was well received by members. As a sequel to it I present here a view of Badami caves , from a series of cave and monolithic rock cut temples , drawn by me. These are done using scratching technique on manually prepared board using acrylic base and painted in diluted transparent acrylic color. Size 32x 24 in. I had submitted this in SB art Channel .
Badami caves are located in south of India . Built around 600 CE.
these were carved out of red sandstone rocks . The view presented is of steps leading to one of four caves - three dedicated to Hindu Gods and the fourth is of Jain faith.
Comments and criticism always welcome

lovely work - it almost has the feel of a woodcut, hand coloured, I suppose that's because of your scratching technique?
I'd love to see a step by step of how/what you do with that?
Wonderful composition and texture.
