Saturday evening, I attended the reception for the IAPS 15th Juried Exhibition in Brea. Earlier in the day, Maggie gave a landscape demonstration to a packed house. She is such a generous artist, with her time and knowledge.
That evening, a large crowd filled the Gallery. Cuong Nguyen won the Prix De Pastel for his wonderful portrait of a woman. He began his portrait studies in Vietnam at the age of 10. He is a very enthusiastic, upbeat and talented artist. Sally Strand was in attendance and won 1st Place for her Bedside, AM which was featured in a recent issue of Pastel Journal. Phil Bates placed either 2nd or 3rd (I apologize for not remembering) with his waterfall painting, Burney Falls. Iím sure you all have seen this in the recent wetcanvas competition. There were perhaps 90 paintings from artists in the US and Canada. Oh, how I wish that you all could see this wonderful show.
Iím sure that the award winners will be posted soon on the IAPS website. Here are a few photos from the event.
This is the beautiful City of Brea Art Gallery with over 6,000 sq.ft. of space.
IAPS president Maggie Price and Sally Strand.
WC's Desiree (who recently painted Someone's Been Canning) and me.
Val Barnard, president of Pastel Soc. of San Diego, Maggie and me.

Great pictures! I enjoyed visiting even though I couldn't attend. How nice to see two of my favorite people together, Maggie and Sally! :D Delighted that she and you, Phil, won prizes for paintings that I think are each stunningly beautiful works. And what a spacious and beautiful display of the work. Karen, thanks so much!

Paula! I realize it was a lot of work, but you had to have been smiling all day long, just seeing all of the art pieces.
Deborah, you're welcome. Phil, I'm sorry you weren't there and I didn't get to meet you. Your painting is even more stunning in person.
I also forgot to mention the flower painting by Karen Marulis and how beautiful it is. I overheard a few lovely comments as people stopped to look.
