Hello, I'm new to this forum. Had to breakaway from realism for a while try something completely different. Here it is. 24"x24". C&C much appreciated!

It reminds me of a sky scraper after dark. I like it up side down as then the skyline looks more interesting with what could be cranes and things. Did you use a brush for this and what medium please?

Hi Judith and welcome to the forum. Nice breakaway piece. I like the grid like effect incorporated in the piece.

Gal: Thanks for looking in. The medium is oil and I used a palette knife. You're right about it being a building..
Amoremio, Randy and Sherry: Appreciate your taking the time to comment.

Yes, I agree it does look pretty gruesome on second glance this morning. The photo was taken at night and there was some glare. It's actually much more purple than red and much darker, but even so I can see that there's something ominous about it in general.

I think it was probably reactionary, on a subconscious level, to the last painting I worked on which was grapes in a crystal bowl. The heavy handed use of purple and red, the square forms versus round, clunkiness versus delicacy, slapping on paint versus careful application. It was therapeutic if nothing else. Although the palette is the same, I see it as completely opposite (trying to balance my brain!!)
Thanks again,

Brian and Clem, Thanks for the comments. I think maybe I'll try to rework this one a bit and if I'm happier with it I'll repost.

I hope you don't re-work it.
It is lovely!
