View Full Version : The Joker Laughs
To mark my 3,333rd post, here is my first new work in a while. This is from a playful, experimental new series that I've been working on over the last couple of months:
The Joker Laughs 31 x 31 cm (12x12 in.), acrylic on hardboard
There are another 11 pieces underway in this series - none quite as colorful or direct but stay tuned and I will be sharing them with you.

very nice color and texture, how are you getting the buildup, modeling paste of some kind? I like this.

Very good gesture--good color and form. But it looks like just the bottom half of the 3 (for 3333)--where's the top? :-)
Try one with a neutral (plain) background with just the gesture on top--might look very 2010.
Thanks PushingPixels. :) I used Golden Crackle Paste to build up most of the thickness on this one.
Thank you too Anthony - good connection on the 3's
Here is another photo of this piece taken from an angle to better show the textures:

I like this a lot. It's really cool!
Thanks Clem. You are so right about the half painting, half sculpture aspect. As I've been working through these pieces it hasn't quite seemed right to say I was painting. But whatever you call it I am having fun.

It is looking good Randy! Heavy textures don't show very well in frontal photos - the second photo gives a completely different impression. Looking forward to seeing the rest of the series as it progresses. :)
