This is brilliant. It really draws me through the archway.

Actually the castle can be used to hire for weddings. They restored the roof to the chapel and put some glass in the windows and they hold outdoor receptions in the courtyar. (I hope they put up gazebos as it always rains in this part of the world.

Alain, I really like this one and since I sold real estate for years I got a kick our of your advertising.

For 4 years, I owned the local Real Estate franchise of Royal-LePage... but since I was not a certified broker, I eventually had to sell it... not before doubling it's size. to some 82 agents. I loved that business.... but was too lazy to get my Broker's licence.

Now back to the challenge....I have to get around to test my new Soft Pastels.... I have not touched these since college, and that was in a previous life

I gave a shot at the challenge... Took out that wonderful box of 64 pastels (Christmas gift) and tried my hand on the Welsh Coast line. I had not touched Soft Pastels for ages... and I remember why... It is dusty and a long process. But It was fun...

Alain, your castle is wonderful! I love the painting and your description / sale ad cracked me up. Thoroughly splendid painting. The bits of greenery and the subtle hue shifts, the feel of the old stone and balance of the composition, everything in it was grand.

I love your pastel painting too. You might not have done it for a while but you haven't lost your touch one bit. It's gorgeous and giving me technique ideas for what to try when I get to that one, it's one I hope to paint too.

Alain, love your sense of humor- your castle is absolutely lovely - I just loved walking down the path to the front entrance - very inviting. Your pastel of the cove is quite colorful and not as austere looking as the original photo - nice work!

Unfortunately no, BUT you have a public access to the beach... (I must admit, there is hardly anybody swimming there except the French tourists in August) .The previous owner let these right lapse with the Cromwell rebellion....But there is a loophole... It may require that you go to court and claim the property rights which date back to the IX century. :)

Love both of your work Alain esp. the sold one, so beautiful.
I like and downloaded the ref. too.
You are very good with pastels too, have you use OPastels before, no dust from OP though.

I'll take the castle! The line and wash style suits the old building well. Your beach sketch has some lovely colours in it.

Ditto on all the great remarks. Love the depth and colors of the castle, the beach in pastels is beautiful (watch out - they are so addictive you can't stop buying colors) and your kraft paper conte sketch is excellent. Looking forward to some of your wonderful animals in pastels....

oddly enough this castle does overlook a beach. It is only amatter of walking down a steep path and there is the beach!
