Excellent brushwork on the pears. I also enjoy your composition. What inspires you with still life? I am looking forward to doing some this winter.
dont want to nit pick but what is happening behind the pears, do you have them on a long thin table? just curious as its not very important with this piece. The pears are important and they are wonderful.

Fagan-thats what your work makes me do..OHHHH!
Goldie-;-) thats the 20% when I sleep at night, sometimes I dream of what would make it work.
suppose I could post reference photo if it helps others give direction. kinda like giving a map? what inspires with still life? previous photos I've taken for no particular reason. indelible and edible, people who paint are busy., too busy

Hmmmnn .. nice as usual .. new titile .. "Slingshot Targets" .. is it anywhere near a full moon? Weird thoughts passing by!

PS.. have you ever thought of or tried a little teeeny weeny speck of Cer Blue as a highlite on that ultra/thalo highlite of a blue?

Like this a lot. Brush strokes, color relationship between pears and bench all work wonderfully! I can't help noticing that the cloth of the first was so lovely...now with the addition of red...pulls my attention. Or maybe it's my monitor.

i like that...

ok, so is the lavender behaveing?
maybe he/ she could play a bit
in the shadow between the table and front cloth
hanging down...

but only with your permission, of course...

nice piece!
love the brush play

Ginaad-Thats a good thought. Also artinoils, you both see and feel what I do with this. my scattered, undecisive personality just splayed itself all over the cloth. tho, either would have been fine, if only I could decide. I really wanted the pears to be the center of attention, and to fade the cloth was something that I know I needed a day of training on. (that, and someone to slap my hand when I reached for too many colors.
Wayne ;-)
Rita-humble thanks

Hey there!
You know Diane,..this painting worked beautifully BOTH ways.....:p Yep,..the textured brushwork, composition,...AND color. On perhaps another painting....try leaving in the blue...I loved it! Cheers,-S

Nice work, love the distinct brush strokes! My only suggestion is to widen the shadows of the pears.
