I've done this work this morning. This farmhouse is one of the famous type in Japan..it's a wooden house with a steep rafter roof.I took this photo on my travel in this March.I hope that more varietions of colors are there. But I couldn't take enough time to do.C&C welcome!

Watson paper(190g)30×38cm,Holbein oilpastels,taken about 1hr.

Interesting structure, Tosh and I like your limited palette. The shadow is a little dark but does not take away from the sketch.

Tosh,
It looks like a wonderful scene. And you have the rest of life to do more if you want. Love the pic, love the farmhouse and that red really jumps out.

Thanks,

Mark

Lovely Tosh. I love these glimpses of Japan.

That splash of red at a focus point is a nice touch.

This is beautiful. It has so much depth and realism, I love the color transitions in the roof and everywhere. The dark shadow doesn't really bother me, everything in the scene seems to fit just right. The red really jumps out as it should, feels like I'm right there approaching this fascinating house.
