View Full Version : Cross Connection II

Here is the second in the Cross Connection series. This is a horrible picture. There is no white showing on the actual canvas, and the fabric is a deep red-purple. I have tried to go beyond mid-tones and bring out the contrast on the hands. The cross is made of wood and from a distance doesn't look too bad. This is my first time to try fabric, so please tell me where the improvements need to come. I have also heard that there is always a bit of green in any flesh tone, so I've tried to incorporate that as well. Any C&C is much appreciated, thanks for your help http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/01-Dec-2009/123358-CC2.jpg

Wonderful job on the fabric and the hands! the left hand index finger looks alittle long where its touching the other hand.
Very well done!

I scanned it in so it looks a bit better. The color is a little more acurate. The index finger has a funky angle and the fingernail is actually showing in my reference. I didn't know how to depict that exactly, maybe
deeper shadows? Here is the reference. Scanning makes it look really grainy.http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/01-Dec-2009/123358-crop_2.jpg http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/01-Dec-2009/123358-ccii.jpg

I think it's wonderful, the hands are "very" nicely done and I like the folds think you did really well here too. I couldn't help but think when I first looked about the many "folds" of life, some well highlighted while others can be shadowed n deep, I think you have a really good feel with this, I like it very much.
