This is one of my older pieces. It has been sitting in my studio for a year. Need to put some more info or interest in this piece. 14" x 18" Acrylic. Started with a plein air direction. Then I added the deer. I think I need to lighten the areas both warm and cool. Any ideas anyone?

Have a great Thanksgiving everyone!!

I Love the folage.. it is missing something.. how about a rabbit in the middleground , in the sunny area just to the right of the second tree from the left.. might help. Just a though.. or a fawn!

Love the thanksgiving joke! THANKS!
Happy Thanksgiving to you also!

Some very good painting in this Jim.
I think I'd like to have seen the deer a little further forward, but that's just me! Your use of the medium is lovely!

I think the piece is very good. One thing I noticed is the tree that is to the viewers right of the deer (the one on an angle touching his butt) looks too dark / warm for the plane it is on. It is the same intensity as the foreground trees. I would just cool / grey it to push it back.

Maureen-
As to size of the deer--- your right!! I had painted it and then after I was done, I looked at it and it was a bit large!! I could work on that but I think I will wait on that. With acrylic I can go over easily. Was thinking about making the trees bigger. Thanks for the critique on that. I agree.

Ian-
I worked on it a bit today. I see the area that you are talking about. Changing values and color helps. I worked on it but it still neads some change. I did put reflected colors (blue) That changed things a bit all around. It sure is fun changing and moving with acrylic!! I checked out both of your webs. (Maureen-- Ian) Very good!!! Landscapes are great and the animals!! Thanks for the critique. Will still work on that piece. My camera was not what I wanted it to do but here is the change. Suttle changes.http://www.wetcanvas.com/Community/images/26-Nov-2009/21877-PB266032s.jpg
