Thanks for all your great comments! I think I have decided to nix all backgrounds and do non-descript ones. This one almost turned into a snowstorm because the background reminds me of one........idea for another painting some day.....

The horse was in a pen on a hillside and was very wary of me taking his picture. I guess no one ever really stopped and looked at him and his pen-mates like my sister and I were doing. The cameras were clicking non-stop. The full-body shot is below and I will do it someday in a mustang scenario.

What a wonderful horse painting! You've caught the wary look in his eye and his soft muzzel beautifully! That ear looks as if it's ready to flick backwards and forwards as he wonders about you. So very realistic. Great work!

Beautiful. She has a wonderful shine to her coat!

Ooo, nice. You've nicely captured the fiery-ness :)

11-25-2009, 02:32 AM
that is so beautiful, you have really captured him and his attitude so well.
Is there any possibility I could use the photo as a reference down the track, I presume you have the copyright,I was wanted to paint a friesian but have been unable to find a good ref pick and yours is super, and not so different .
I wouldn't be painting horses for about another 12 months as I have a lot on hand for 2010, mainly beach scenes.

11-25-2009, 02:14 PM
Jane, I will be making several paintings from this guy. I'll have to think about it, send me a PM about the time you are thinking of doing the horses. You may just find a friesen that will suit you better since there will be so many changes to make this guy into one of those beautiful guys. Yes, I have copyright.

Thank you all for your wonderful comments! What an ego booster you are!!!!
