I ran across this site, and was impressed with some of the information on it. Is anyone familiar with this group?. I found them doing a search on pastels history and the address is artshow.com/apow

I have several friends that are a part of this association. Martha Bator and Kay Ridge, just to name two! Kay Ridge has had an article in either "American Artist" or "Artist" -- sorry I can't remember which one just now. And, it came about because of her association and showing on the APOW site. They are a little expensive (this is what Kay told me). They jury people into the site -- which is a good thing. Martha Bator has had several articles about her paintings -- and I think -- it is also because she is part of this association (among others).

But, I visit it quite often to see what is new. I receive an e-mail from artshow.com telling me when there is new work. I like it.

All the people associated with this site -- that I know either personally or only through my friends -- seem to be wonderful people. Very dedicated to pastels and the arts.

I could be wrong, but I think when I looked at this site, I thought I saw that although they "Jury" people onto the site, they will only look at people who are members of some kind of recognised pastel society or group all ready. Do correct me if I am wrong here! I was searching at the time, hoping to apply to join a pastel society of some kind, we only have one in the UK, and my work is too "traditional" for them, they are looking for artists who are breaking new ground and being much more "avant garde" than I am!

visit my website which has a “troubleshooter” page of helpful pastel tips and hints (http://www.jackiesimmonds.co.uk)
