It's nice to see your work, JPQ! You use some beautiful combinations of colors. All are very bright and vibrant! Don't worry about your photography - we all struggle with that. :)

i mainly have pure colours (few light hues only no greys currently but Pip Seymours Ivory black is more dark grey to me)

Hello JPQ. Thank you for showing us your work. I think I like the bottom one most because of the contrast with pastel heavily applied and then it feathers lightly away. Your work shows how you are experimenting with colour blending, combinations of colour, mark making and application. Which of the colours are your Pip Seymour Handmade softpastels? One day I should try a water-based underpainting.

I currently have these 8:
Bristol Yellow (smooth maybe nicest warm yellow i ever seen when we talk opaque pigments without cadmium hues)
Iso Yellow (Hard but maybe greenst yellow what i can get easily in here)
Quindo Red (Very Hard)
Bright Red (smooth)
Ivory Black (smooth)
Prussian Blue (smooth, real one but hint on ivory? black for stabliation i understand)
Bright Blue (smooth, made with ultramarine blue i understand)
Titanium white
most usefull to me are ivory black, bristol yellow and prussian blue (smoother than w&n phtalo blue red shade tint 4)
ps. smooth is not as smooth like w&n yellow ochre tint 4 which is almost too smooth i think (when i dont talk oil pastels :) ). and i Seymours made these pastels what i use for Minoa (Art Supplier in finland) but sells in there in england same stuff here: (same colour selection)
http://www.southlondonartsupplies.com/page22.html
(Seymour can send pigment info if you ask and hues are mainly single pigment hues i understand with even real carmine and indigo (form india)) what are fugitive and even very old ultramarine green used some hues i understand.(stuff even when stuff is used fully we cannot get more)
and must say these (at started these Seymours pastels) are lovely looking stuff and handmade. but recommend when you want single pigment hues.
and good stuff i think also when you made really portable set only few pastels.(i think if quindo red and iso yellow are smoother than these are even with 8 pastels you can made if you can mix make some amazing stuff nice greens, oranges etc only violet is hard made with mix why? quindo red is so hard) ps.for example bright blue in colour samples is too bright and strong i think. but these maybe last longer than w&n i think...

Fun experiments! Now, what are you learning from them? :D

Hope you don't mind, but I want to make a suggestion for you about the last one:

I think if you crop it so the image is going off the page it's more dynamic and interesting. It creates negative shapes this way, and gives it stronger rhythms. Not necessary, of course, but I thought I'd share.

Keep going! You're clearly having some fun.

White is really needed. but this crop is also nice. but i use art for relaxing. watercolours and soft pastels are best for this some other mediums are too hard for this use. and if alloved i post more works soon.

Hey, I nearly missed this thread. Very nice to see your work, you've had great fun, and it looks like you love clear colours! I really think you'd like PanPastels, it is the softest you can find that also gives a fluid "wet" look, I think of them as 'dry' watercolour.
