Started this today. It's 22"x11" on pastelmat. I've worked on it for 7 hours already (including the gridding and drawing). I wonder if I'm trying to put in too much detail in the animal. My eyes have been crossing trying to see the detail and interpret it correctly! What do you think?

Hi,

This is going to be outstanding! In fact, it already is. Personally, I love detailed wildlife with a looser background. So this I love. After working on something for hours, I understand how your eyes tire...take from these fresh eyes - you are doing fantastic!

I don't think there is too much detail in the coyote either. As long as you follow it through the entire animal it will be magnificent! Can't wait to see it finished. Take lots of short breaks! Yeh right ! haha

Well, I did some more today, bit of the body of the first coyote and started the head of the second. I had to try and make the eye look more like an eye as on the ref photo it can't be properly seen. Does it look OK?
Not the best photo in the world as it was rather dull.

Thank you everyone! I've done a couple more hours on it. Not much to show for it but I do work very slowly! Here's the update.

Hi Ruthie,

This is outstanding! I love the poses & expressions of the coyotes. It is very natural & believeable. This is gonna be a beauty.

Thanks James and Tanja!

I can see why there isn't a lot of interest in this. Progress is so slow and sometimes I find myself losing interest too. Like yesterday when I got so bored with it I had to put it away after 20 minutes. Today I did a couple of hours and, if you look closely, you should be able to see the progress I made :D

I'm gonna keep the thread going to post the painting when it's finished. I'm determined this is going to be a good one (well maybe).
