MY COMMENTS:
This started out as just a fun idea that took form as I went along. I gave it to my daughter and it was lost in a house fire. Trying to decide if I should try to reproduce it with a few more years under my belt- or just let it go

MY QUESTIONS FOR THE GROUP:
re-do or not to re-do- das the question

I think it is a lovely painting. I like the theme of it and the mood it presents. If you like it enough to do it again I would say go for it!!!!

I don't see many mermaid paintings here. My vote is yes, go for it. What size do you plan on doing it?

This is magical! There is something I would try and change. The human brain insists on following the leader visually, and so our eyes follow that beautiful school of fish right out of the picture. It resists being a path into the painting because to do that we have to visually travel against the 'pointing arrows' of the fish. (the brain recognizes the front of the fish from the back and wants to go with the flow) Perhaps one could turn them so that a portion of them turn back into the painting. As is it is a very beautiful painting for a child...for something more adult oriented I might add a merman...but then that would be a different painting...by all means redo this it is lovely. Here is a rough demo of what I was suggesting with the school of fish:
